Article abstract: The goal of this key is to identify the rare and common stream breeding amphibian larvae in coastal southern California. The key does not cover the exotic southern leopard frogs (Rana sphenocephala) which only occur in the Prado Basin or the foothill yellow-legged frog (Rana boylii) which are extirpated in southern California. Additional frog and toad species that occur in the Sonoran Desert of California are not covered by this key.
