Rare Plant Discovery Surveys

Surveys were conducted in suitable habitat on Conserved Lands from 2021 to 2023 to document whether historic occurrences are extant and to discover new occurrences for the following rare plant species: Orcutt's birds-beak (Dicranostegia orcuttiana), Blochman's dudleya (Dudleya blochmaniae), California eryngo (Eryngium aristulatum), San Diego ambrosia (Ambrosia pumila), Aphanisma (Aphanisma blitoides), Salt marsh bird's-beak (Chloropyron maritimum ssp. maritimum), Wiggin's cryptantha (Cryptantha wigginsii), Baja California Oatgrass (Sphenopholis interrupta ssp. californica), Deane’s milkvetch (Astragalus deanei), Parish brittlescale (Atriplex parishii), Mexican flannelbush (Fremontodendron mexicanum), Jennifer’s monardella (Monardella stoneana ), and Small-leaved rose (Rosa minutifolia). Exact survey areas were determined by AECOM in collaboration with SDMMP. When occurrences are found, AECOM shall collect voucher specimens for submittal to the San Diego Natural History Museum and conduct IMG monitoring to determine population status, habitat attributes, and threat levels. At “Gap” occurrences, where they shall also implement IMG monitoring.
