Article abstract: ARMI (Amphibian Research and Monitoring Initiative, USGS) has adopted proportion of area occupied (PAO) as a standardized metric for mid-level monitoring of amphibian populations. We describe a monitoring program using this metric for the endangered arroyo toad (Bufo californicus).
