The City of San Diego Park and Recreation Department is hiring a paid intern ($11-$12/hour) to work in the Open Space Division. Responsibilities include GPS field data collection, such as trail mapping; field studies of sensitive plant and animal species, including assisting biologists with endangered California gnatcatcher surveys; data management; report production; and general open space research tasks using GIS.
The Open Space internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain on-the-job experience in GIS, GPS data collection, botany, ornithology and biological monitoring that is directly relevant to many professional jobs, and allows students an opportunity to meet and work with local agency representatives, biologists, and natural resource professionals.
