Please reserve your spot in San Diego Management and Monitoring Program’s (SDMMP) Rare Plant Inspect and Manage (IMG) Training Session as soon as possible (email Jessie Vinje, sagevinjebiological@gmail.com). If you do not reserve a spot, you cannot attend. There are strict limitations on the number of available training spots based on the training location.
Date: Monday, March 9, 2026 (please note that you should also hold Wednesday, March 11 as a backup date in case of rain).
Time: 8:30 am to 12:30/1:00 pm
Location: Fiesta Island (see attached map). Please park at the location indicated on the map. Note: you can only turn right when you enter Fiesta Island, so drive around the Island until you reach the training location parking spot.
Who Should Attend: Land managers, consulting botanists, and volunteers interested in participating in 2026 IMG surveys, those who have never attended a training, and those who need a refresher.
Prior to Attending: Please see the attachment so that you can download Survey123 and the correct survey (2026). If you don't do this, you won't be able to collect data using Survey123 during the training session (but you can still use the paper data form). If you encounter issues while downloading Survey123, please contact Emily Perkins - eperkins@usgs.gov. You must have an ESRI organization account to download Survey123. If you don't, please contact Emily.
Once you have secured your spot in the training session: Please bring water, a lunch, and sunscreen. Please bring a smartphone, field computer, or tablet with the Survey123 2024 IMG Rare Plant data form loaded.
*Please review the attached 2026 IMG methods.
*Please bring a paper copy of the 2026 IMG data form (attached).

The IMG coordination team appreciates the time and effort of those who are involved in the regional rare plant monitoring. This monitoring would not be possible without your help. IMG data are being used to inform and prioritize management actions and are essential for effective regional management of rare plant species on conserved lands.
