Partnering with Tribes and Tribal Communities Workshop

The Pala Band of Mission Indians' Environmental Department, the University of California, Cooperative Extension and the Natural Resources Conservation Service, welcome you to join us at a FREE workshop to learn more about partnering with tribes and tribal communities.

This 2-day workshop is for professionals seeking to learn more about building lasting relationships with tribes in Southern California. We expect government agencies (federal, state, and local) as well as local non-government organizations to benefit the most from this workshop. It will feature speakers who will share lessons on building partnerships that enhance tribal goals and empower tribal communities. Topics we will cover include: understanding tribal government and tribal lands, initiating and developing tribal relationships, listening to tribal needs, and building partnerships in food and nutrition, natural resource management, cultural heritage, youth education and other programs.

For lodging, there is a nearby hotel in Pala and there also are hotels in Fallbrook. The workshop will start at noon on Monday July 1, to allow for travel time, and it will continue all day Tuesday July 2.

For those in Northern California, there will be a companion workshop this summer covering similar topics.
