Job Opportunity - Fish and Wildlife Biologist (USFWS)

As a Fish and Wildlife Biologist (Plant Restoration Biologist) your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Serves as an advisor to formulate plans, strategies or policies involving restoration of resilient native plant communities and ecosystems in collaboration with partners working on public, Tribal or private lands.
  • May represent the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) on work groups and other committees that address issues affecting the supply of native plant materials (seeds, seedlings, and whole plants) and their use in habitat restoration and enhancement projects.
  • Supports the development and maintenance of national partnerships with private, State, Federal agencies, and Tribal partners, as well as with other Service programs, to meet the need for regionally appropriate native plant materials.
  • Provides expertise to support and prioritize the collection, production and use of appropriate native plant materials in restoration projects conducted on public, private, and tribal lands.
  • Collaborates and shares information and concerns with our partners, stakeholders, decision-makers, and others to protect, restore, and enhance Federal Trust Resources.
  • Assists development of national methods, monitoring techniques, and investigates long-term restoration impacts and outcomes, as well as demonstration, and pilot projects as integrated approaches to habitat restoration using native plant materials.
  • Prepares budgets for specific projects and assists in preparing programmatic budget documents.
  • Prepares various correspondence, reports and a variety of other written and oral communication products as necessary to identify, explain, and promote native plant restoration and habitat conservation issues.
