Job Opportunity - Water and Utility Scientist (CDFW)

CDFW is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Scientist to perform duties related to Lake and Streambed Alteration (LSA), California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and other functions of the Habitat Conservation Program in Riverside County and other areas throughout the Inland Deserts Region. This position is located in CDFW's Ontario office and offers the opportunity to gain hands-on, career-building experience and training in regulatory programs and habitat conservation planning on landscape-scale issues. Ontario is located in San Bernardino County and is within driving distance of Los Angeles, Southern California's beach cities, the San Bernardino Mountains, and Joshua Tree National Park.

Under close supervision, the position performs a variety of professional scientific office work and fieldwork related to various habitat conservation programs, including LSA, CEQA, and habitat mitigation actions. In accordance with detailed instructions and specific standards, the position gathers or reviews data on environmental, biological, and natural resource issues; performs environmental analysis and literature research; prepares draft LSA Agreements and CEQA comment letters; coordinates preparation of CEQA lead documents; prepares draft routine correspondence; answers routine questions from the public/regulated community; prepares draft regulatory and compliance documents; and does other work primarily related to water and utility entity infrastructure projects.
