The Escondido Creek Conservancy (Conservancy) is seeking an experienced fundraising professional to help the Conservancy build annual resources sufficient to manage Conservancy lands and support, in perpetuity, the Conservancy’s conservation, outdoor education, and other programs per the Conservancy’s 2021 strategic plan.
The Conservancy currently manages 3,000 acres of habitat-rich property in the Escondido Creek watershed in North San Diego County and frequently adds to its conservation land portfolio. Additionally, the Conservancy provides outstanding outdoor education programming to over 5,000 youth and adults per year and is engaged in water quality enhancement activities. This is a new position.
DUTIES:
The Development Director will create and implement a philanthropic plan based on the Conservancy’s 2021 Strategic Plan update. Additionally, the Development Director will guide two existing fund-raising campaigns, Seed the Future and Boulder Outlook, to completion. The philanthropic plan should include strategies to create a monthly and annual funding base sufficient to support on-going operations and help the Conservancy generate revenue to maintain its activities in perpetuity. The Development Director will work with the Board of Directors to leverage directors’ skills and expertise towards enhanced fundraising.
The Development Director will also utilize their own contacts and generate new contacts to help expand the Conservancy’s pool of donors. The Director will develop and implement a donor recognition program, facilitate major gift asks from individuals and organizations, expand the Planned Giving program, and cultivate new donors through creative and engaging activities and other means. The Director will oversee fund-raising and donor communication.
The Development Director must be an excellent writer with experience writing and winning substantial grants from both private foundations and public sources. The Director must demonstrate exceptional record keeping, including donor logs and gift acknowledgement.
