This position is a natural resource manager that works on complex technical and field-based projects that support the San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District's (District) environmental and conservation initiatives, which function to ensure regulatory compliance and long-term sustainability of the District’s water resources programs. Primary responsibilities center on ecological aspects of watershed-wide conservation planning and habitat restoration activities. This includes development, planning, managing, and implementing multiple habitat restoration projects that are large, complex, technical, and interdependent with the District’s water supply projects.
This role requires technical expertise as well as the ability to work with little supervision. The person selected will provide guidance, strategic direction, and technical support in the area of biological resources to the District’s Chief Executive Officer/General Manager, Manager of Water Resources, Chief Engineer, and other management staff, as needed. This person should foster cooperative working relationships among all departments and with multiple regional partners and regulatory agencies; and performs related work as required.
