Field Biologist – full time, permanent Santa Ana Watershed Association (SAWA) Riverside, California.
SAWA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration and enhancement of the natural resources in the Santa Ana River watershed.
Job Description: Job duties emphasize development of management strategies and data gathering. Avian studies emphasized. Representative duties include: habitat restoration site assessment, mitigation analysis and reporting, monitor invasive plant removal and spraying activities when the projects may impact endangered species; nest management for least Bell’s vireo and southwestern willow flycatcher and other endangered/threatened species in Riverside, San Bernardino and/or Orange Counties; service and manage brown-headed cowbird traps; conduct biological monitoring, management, and surveys for listed species; conduct general avian surveys including winter and breeding bird surveys, plant surveys, and herpetological surveys including maintaining pit-fall traps and night drives; conduct aquatic surveys; assist with native fish recovery program; assist with ecological restoration projects; assist with compiling data for various reports; collect, analyze, and assess biological and ecological data and develop reports and maps of monitoring, management, and study results for assigned projects; plan and implement actions for restoration of fish and wildlife resources and their habitats under various ecosystem-based authorities. Position requires use of own vehicle.
Salary: Range $19/hr. – $22/hr. for Bachelor’s degree, hourly rate higher for Master’s. Benefits include vacation, sick, 403b retirement, mileage reimbursement.
