SDMMP will be conducting a training session for the rare plant monitoring protocols. This training is for those of you who plan to go out and monitor your rare plant occurrences as part of the Management Strategic Plan's "Inspect and Manage" objective for 2014. If your land contains one of these occurrences you have been contacted by Kris or Yvonne from SDMMP. Even if you will not be able to monitor this year, you can still join us to try out the method.
We will meet at the City's PUD building at 9:00 am. This is the building just to the southwest of the USGS office building (4165 Spruance Road, San Diego, CA 92101) and you can park in the USGS parking lot. Betsy Miller will go over the protocol indoors and then we will head out to test it in the field at Mission Trails Regional Park. We will email the protocol and data form ahead of the workshop. You can drive over to the park individually or carpool, depending on whether you want to return to USGS from the field. Please bring a lunch or plan to pick up a sandwich at Subway on the way over. We will eat at the park. We should be done in the field by 2:00 pm. Be sure to bring water and be prepared to hike a little. We will send out an equipment list with the protocol and you can bring any of the equipment listed that you have.
Please let Yvonne or Kris know if you and/or others from your organization/agency plan on attending. Also, let us know if you have questions.
